Mung bean is an herbaceous plant that grows upright. Leaves are divided 3 divided, with double-sided hair. Green-yellow flowers grow between the leaves. The fruits are straight, thin, but in large quantity, hairy, in which the seeds are round slightly oblong, small in size, green in color, yellow in the intestine, with seeds in the middle.
Mung bean has 2 breed groups, local and improved breed groups. Local seed groups are the varieties that have been planted for a long time in our country, the name of the variety is often based on color and shape of the seed. Improved varieties are recently imported varieties or domestic hybrids from parent genetic sources with good agronomic traits.
Local fatty green beans
Planted all year round. In dry places, it is best to plant near the end of the rainy season to take advantage of the water from the rain.
The soil is cleared of grass with a grass generator, bactericidal with lime concentrate, lined with manure and decomposed green manure.
CHOOSE VARIETIES AND CULTIVATE
Seeds were left by farmers from the previous crop. Sowing by creating holes, lining wet rice husk ash, sowing 2 to 3 seeds per hole, at a distance of 20cm x 25cm, lightly covering the surface with a thin wet layer of rice husk ash to create favorable conditions for seeds to germinate.
TAKE CARE OF
Watering: water fully after sowing and when the plant is young if it does not rain and drain water when it is raining. Miles do not grow; after other niches the tree has grown evenly a few inches. Water according to the growing needs of the plant and provide enough water during the time when the plant is about to produce flowers and fruit concentrates.
Weeding: when the tree has 3 – 4 real leaves, we must weed and cultivate the root.
Fertilizing: watering fish manure, snails compost for the first time after weeding the root. Watering the fertilizer, a second time when the plant is about to flower, combine weeding and rooting.
PESTS AND DISEASES
Yellow mosaic disease: this disease is a relatively comprehensive disease, yellow mosaic disease plants often have less cotton, late ripe fruit, the number of fruits per fruit, the number of seeds on the fruit and the weight of seeds are all reduced. The damage depends on the duration of the infection. If the plants were infected before 7 weeks of age, the yield decreased by 20-70%, but after 8 weeks it did not affect the yield. Prevention: Select healthy seeds, when diseased plants appear in the field, they should be promptly removed.
Drill worms, silk worms, fruit borer: pests that cause strong harm when beans start to produce flowers and fruit. Control by spraying fish medicine line before the beans hatch.
HARVEST AND PRESERVE
Mung beans are grown for about 55 – 60 days starting to harvest. When harvested, only ripe fruits turn brown, so harvest in the afternoon, avoid collecting at noon, dried ripe fruits will be inflated, resulting in a high loss rate.
Green beans, after being harvested, are brought to the sun for 3-4 days, crushed to get the seeds to clean the dust, dry for 1-2 days and put in bags to preserve.
The average tree is 60cm tall, the seeds are round slightly oblong, the size is very small, the diameter is about 1.5mm – 2mm, the green color, the intestine is yellow, the seeds are in the middle, the seeds are fat green.
Used as food processing many dishes such as: mung bean porridge, sticky rice mung bean, mung bean sticky rice, mung bean tea, mung bean smoothie, bean sprouts, etc.
Used as medicine such as: cooking water to treat colds, cool the liver, detoxify, cure hypertension, relieve alcohol, etc.
